Matt Eicheldinger is a bestselling author, storyteller, and former middle school teacher whose work blends humor, heart, and the magic of everyday moments.
Growing up in the mountains of Colorado, Matt spent his childhood playing soccer, reading comics, and doing his best to stay out of trouble—all of which unknowingly helped shape his debut novel years later.
His path to becoming a New York Times bestseller began in 2009 when he wrote a book filled with embarrassing childhood stories to engage the reluctant readers in his classroom. That project eventually became Matt Sprouts and The Curse of The Ten Broken Toes, which he self-published in 2021. The book went on to win four international awards, including Indie Book of the Year, and was later picked up by Andrews McMeel Publishing. Upon its release in March 2023, Matt Sprouts and The Curse of The Ten Broken Toes became an instant New York Times, USA Today, and Publisher’s Weekly bestseller. The sequels, Matt Sprouts and The Day Nora Ate the Sun (2024), and Matt Sprouts and The Search for The Chompy Womper (2025) continue to build on the success.
Matt is also known as one of the most beloved teachers on social media, where he shares humorous, heartfelt stories and reflections from the classroom and in other walks of life. His collection Sticky Notes: Memorable Lessons from Ordinary Moments released in October 2024 and offers a touching look at the small, powerful experiences that shape our lives and relationships.
Matt’s has many upcoming projects, including Holes in My Underwear (September 2025), which showcases Matt’s signature blend of humor and insight for young readers. His first book in a YA trilogy When The Rain Came will release in 2026, as will his first book in series for young readers called Marv and Baby Blob.
